Mission sits on the north bank of the Fraser River, across the Mission Bridge from Abbotsford. It is a smaller, quieter community with mountain and river views, and it is the eastern end of the West Coast Express commuter train to downtown Vancouver.
Homes in Mission tend to offer more house and more land for the money than communities to the west. The town centre has older character homes, Cedar Valley has newer family subdivisions, and Hatzic, Silverdale and Steelhead offer acreage and rural properties.
Highway 7 (Lougheed Highway) runs west to Maple Ridge, and Highway 11 crosses the river to Abbotsford and Highway 1. Outdoor recreation is close by, with Rolley Lake Provincial Park, Stave Lake and Fraser River Heritage Park all within a short drive.
